Auburn vs. Ole Miss Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 9
By Matt De Saro
The Ole Miss Rebels will head to Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn this Saturday to take on the Tigers in primetime SEC action.
The No. 18 Auburn Tigers are 5-2 on the year and currently sit in third place in the SEC West Division. The Tigers are coming off a 38-23 victory over Arkansas in Week 8 after dropping their second game of the season to the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 7.
It was a nice bounce-back win for the Tigers and the team ended up covering as 4.5-point underdogs with a 15-point victory. It was the second game in three weeks that the Tigers won as single-digit underdogs. The other came in Week 6 against LSU. The Rebels are riding a three-game win streak, covering the last two by a combined nine points.

Auburn vs. Ole Miss Prediction and Pick
The Auburn Tigers moved up one spot in the AP Poll to 18 this week, but would like to jump a few more spots this weekend by beating No. 10 Ole Miss.
Looking at the total for this game, which currently sits at 68.5 is quite high, but makes more sense when you look deeper into the team rankings for these two squads.
Ole Miss has a Top-10 offense in terms of points per game, yards per game, and yards per pass. Their defense, however, is lacking a bit for a team ranked this high. The Rebels are 83rd in opponents points per game and 97th in yards per game. Worryingly, they also have a red zone scoring percentage on defense of more than 85 and allow teams to convert almost 60 percent of fourth downs.
Auburn, to their credit, does have a better defense on paper than Ole Miss. The Tigers ranks 42nd in the nation in opponents points per game and 51st in points per game. However, when teams get down into the red zone, things really fall apart. I thought the Rebels RZ defense was bad until I saw the stats for Auburn. How does a team ranked in the Top-20 allow opponents to score at a 95.25 percent clip? It is one of the worst numbers in the nation and is a likely reason why this total is so high. Ole Miss converts almost 90 percent of their red-zone opportunities for reference.
I think that this game will eventually devolve into a good old-fashioned shootout between two above-average offenses with questions on defense. Take the over and watch the fireworks.
Prediction: Auburn vs Ole Miss OVER 68.5 points
