Auburn vs. Memphis Prediction and Odds for Saturday, December 10th (Back Tigers as Underdogs)
By Reed Wallach
Memphis and Auburn meet in Atlanta on Saturday evening with the Tigers in search of a marquee non conference win.
Auburn has been defensive minded to date, but could have their hands full against a Memphis team that has a stud guard in Kendric Davis that will look to lead the Tigers to a slight upset win. In a battle of two athletic teams that crash the glass and force turnovers, who has the edge

Auburn vs. Memphis Prediction and Pick
Auburn has been riding high this season at 8-0, but they are one of the luckiest teams in the country, according to ShotQuality, profiling more like a 6-2 team instead. The team is shooting below 30% from the three-point line and 65% from the free throw line, each outside the top 200 nationally. This will be a problem against a Memphis team that is lockdown on the interior, allowing foes to shoot 42% on two-point tries, the 23rd best mark in the country. I'm not sure where the offense will come from Auburn in this matchup.
For Memphis on offense, I trust SMU transfer Davis to handle the Auburn defense and create good looks for the Tigers offense. Davis has an assist rate above 29% and will be able to win one-on-one matchups against K.D. Johnson and Wendell Green.
Lastly, Auburn has seen opponents struggle at the free throw line, opponents are shooting 55% from the charity stripe and are blocking more than 20% of opponents shots, the best mark in the nation. I can see regression coming against Memphis, a team with plenty of size inside and capable free throw shooters, top third nationally in both categories.
I'll take Memphis as small underdogs to beat an Auburn team ripe for regression.
