No. 10 Penn State will host No. 22 Auburn on Saturday night in Happy Valley, the return of the ‘White Out’ game.

The Nittany Lions enter this matchup 2-0 with a marquee road win at Wisconsin in Week 1, while Auburn has played Akron and FCS foe Alabama State, winning by a combined score of 122-10.

How should we play this matchup in what should be a raucous atmosphere?

Penn State vs. Auburn Prediction and Pick

I’m not going to put too much stock into Auburn’s first two wins over inferior competition while Penn State was able to scrap out a win in Madison against the Badgers and then steamroll a the defending MAC champions Ball State, 44-13.

We have seen this Penn State defense perform at a high level already this season. The unit was on the field for 42 minutes against Wisconsin and limited the Badgers to just 10 points. There was some turnover luck involved, but this is a resilient bunch that has allowed their first two opponents to convert less than 30% of their third downs.

Auburn’s quarterback Bo Nix has struggled in big spots in the past, going 3-8 against ranked opponents and just 1-5 in true road games against ranked foes.

Not to mention, this will be first year head coach Bryan Harsin’s first Power 5 opponent, and it could not come in a more difficult place in Happy Valley.

While Penn State started 0-5 last season, the team finished on a four game winning streak and allowed 17.3 points per game after letting up 36 in the first five. This defense is better than advertised and I expect them to give Nix trouble all night en route to a comfortable victory.

After opening at 4.5, Penn State is up to -6, and I agree with the move. I’ll lay this inside of a touchdown with the White Out crowd playing a role against an untested Auburn team.
