UEFA Nations League action continues on Friday with a League A Group 1 showdown between Austria and France.

The match takes place at the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna, and features a French team looking to defend its championship this season. Unfortunately, things have not gone great out of the game with Les Bleus currently stuck in third place in the standings; five points back from Denmark in the lead.

Austria, on the other hand, is 1-1 under new coach Ralk Rangnich and second place in the League A Group 1 standings with three points.

Austria vs. France Prediction and Pick

Both teams look to bounce back after suffering losses to Denmark in recent games. While these teams are in similar situations, France is in dire need of a win here. The reigning champs are winless in their first two games with a loss to Denmark and a tie at home against Croatia 1-1. The tie with Croatia was particularly brutal after France gave up until an ill-timed penalty in the 80th minute. France’s winning streak on the road was broken as was this team’s spirits a bit after such a disappointing loss. 

Despite all of that, France is favored for good reason in this game. Forget the recent form for a second., the French team is simply better.

With Didier Deschamps expected to recall some starting players to the lineup, the French are not messing around with this match. If they win, and Croatia loses to Denmark, France moves into second place with a win over Austria. If both Mbappe and Benzema get going on Friday, Austria's backline is in serious trouble. 

Overall France is 3-1-1 in their last five games and I expect them to bounce back here and earn a much-needed first win.
