The Colorado Avalanche and Boston Bruins will face-off in Presidents Day afternoon action.

The Avalanche are in first place in the NHL, and are 12 points clear of the next best team in the Western Conference. They're riding a two-game winning streak into today's game.

The Bruins are currently sitting in the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 60 points, and while they're likely safe, they can't afford to go on a big losing streak. The Red Wings are sitting eight points behind them in the Atlantic Division.

The Avs won the first meeting between these two teams, beating the Bruins 4-3 in overtime in Colorado.

I'm not completely sold on the Avalanche being as good as their record indicates, and as a result, I find them overvalued on the betting market. Over their last 25 games, the Avs rank 12th in high danger scoring chances and 25th in high danger scoring chances against. Some fantastic play by their goaltenders have saved them on more than one occasion.

I expect regression from Colorado, so I'm going to take a shot on the Bruins as sizable home underdogs. Boston continues to be one of the top defensive teams in the league, limiting teams to 10.23 high danger scoring chances per game which is the fourth best mark in the NHL.

If you're looking for an underdog to back on Monday, you won't find one that presents as much value as the Bruins at +140.
