Barbasol Championship 1st round 3-ball bets
There's no shortage of golf tournaments to bet on this week, so let's take advantage of as many value bets as we can find.
The Barbasol Championship will serve as the alternate field event this week, and not only do I think there's some value plays on who will win, but I also think there's a few opportunities in the 3-ball market.
A 3-ball bet for Round 1 is a wager on a golfer to finish with the lowest score that day amongst the group he's playing in. Let's jump into my favorite three ball bets for Thursday's opening round.
Barbasol Championship Round 1 3-ball bets
- Andrew Novak +125 vs. Scrivener/Schwab
- Justin Lower +115 vs. Norlander/Garcia Rodriguez
Andrew Novak +125 vs. Scrivener/Schwab
I like Andrew Novak to win his Round 1 3-ball group for the same reason I like him to be the first round leader. I don't know if he gets fatigued as the tournament goes on or just can't handle the pressure of the weekend, but Novak dominates the opening round of golf tournaments, ranking seventh on Tour in Round 1 scoring average.
Meanwhile, in Jason Scrivner's last six starts on the DP World Tour, he has missed the cut four times, withdrew once, and finishing 60th once. His form is not so great, to say the least.
The exact same thing can be said for Matias Schwab, who has missed the cut six times in his last eight starts and hasn't finished better than T70 over that stretch.
Justin Lower +115 vs. Norlander/Garcia Rodriguez
Justin Lower is a sneaky pick this weekend. Not only is he coming off an eighth place finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, but he also finished in eighth place at this tournament last year.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Garcia Rodriguez has missed the cut in eight of his last nine starts on the DP World Tour and Henrik Norlander hasn't finished better than T34 since April, missing three cuts along the way.
Lower is the deserving favorite in this group and I'm shocked we can get him at plus-money.
