Barbasol Championship score predictions (What will be the winning score?)
The Barbasol Championship has officially become the alternate event the week of the Scottish Open for the foreseeable future. Like the Scottish Open, the Barbasol Championship is in it's second year of being co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
If you want my betting preview and best bets for the tournament, you can find those here.
In this article, I'm going to attempt to predict both the winning score and the final score for the top 10 golfers on the odds list.
Let's jump into it.
Barbasol Championship Score Predictions
Winning score: -23
This event has been hosted at Keene Trace Golf Club for four years now, and all four times the winning score has been better than 20-under par. The lowest score was 26-under par by Jim Herman in 2019, and Trey Mullinax won it last year with a score of 25-under.
Any guess between 21-under and 26-under is likely a good prediction, so I'm going to fall somewhere in the middle with 23-under.
Taylor Pendrith score prediction: -14
Taylor Pendrith has finishes of 13th and 11th in the last two editions of the Barbasol Championship, and he's also coming off a 14th place finish in his latest start. But, before that he was in a bit of a slump and his short game has been out of whack. He'll make the cut, but I don't think he'll be in contention on Sunday.
Lucas Glover score prediction: -18
Lucas Glover has quietly been playing some fantastic golf, posting two straight top six finishes. Still, he's not going to be able to score enough birdies to win this birdie-fest of an event.
Vincent Norman score prediction: -22
In DataGolf.com's pre-tournament model, they actually have Vincent Norman with the best probability to win this event at 5%. I don't know if I'd go that far, but I certainly think we'll see his name near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.
Peter Kuest score prediction: -24
Peter Kuest is my pick to win, so naturally I'm going to predict he'll score what I think will be the winning score. He has burst onto the scene in recent weeks, playing well enough to lock up temporary exemption status on the PGA Tour. From a Monday qualifier to holding a PGA Tour card, Kuest might be the hottest golfer in the field.
Akshay Bhatia score prediction: -20
Akshay Bhatia is one of the most exciting young golfers in the world and he seems to thrive in weaker field events. With that being said, his short game struggles at times and a few costly bogies will keep him from winning for the first time on Tour.
Kevin Streelman score prediction: -15
Kevin Streelman was the runner-up here last year, but he's finished 49th or worse in his last four starts. He just doesn't have the form for a repeat performance this time around.
Justin Lower score prediction: -23
I'm going to predict Justin Lower as the runner-up this week. He finished eighth at this event last year and also finished eighth in his latest start at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He has the game for this course and has a real shot of winning this week.
Cameron Champ score prediction: missed cut
Cameron Champ has been awful lately. Since finishing T8 at the Mexico Open in April, he has gone; missed cut, T50, T63, missed cut, missed cut, missed cut, T51. Unfortunately, I think he has another missed cut in his future.
Carl Yuan score prediction: missed cut
Carl Yuan finished in 14th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, but he missed the cut on either side of that finish including at last week's John Deere Classic. Don't be seduced by that 14th place finish, he's going to struggle this week.
Grayson Murray score prediction: -10
Grayson Murray is coming off an impressive T6 finish at the John Deere Classic. I don't think he'll do quite as well again this week, but I expect him to make the cut and play on the weekend.
