The No. 6 Baylor Bears have been on a bit of a hiatus, they haven’t played since their 84-60 win over Georgia Tech nearly a week ago. They got Thanksgiving weekend off, but will return to non-conference action tonight up in Milwaukee to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Baylor is 5-1 with their only loss coming to No. 3 Virginia. While Marquette 5-2 with losses to Mississippi State and No. 5 Purdue.

Baylor has Gonzaga on the schedule later this week, so maybe the Golden Eagles could catch them peaking at that matchup and get the upset tonight.

Baylor vs. Marquette Prediction and Pick

I really do think that this is a good spot for a potential Marquette upset. Baylor is a very good team with freshman talent in Keyontae George to go along with veteran contributors like LJ Cryer and Adam Flagler.

They have an excellent mix and it looks like Scott Drew has once again built a National Championship caliber team in Waco.

However, they have a matchup with Gonzaga looming on Friday and that will be a massive game for this team even if the Zags haven’t looked themselves and are down at No. 14 in the latest rankings.

There will be more than a few players that look ahead to that game and Marquette is a team capable of knocking off Baylor if everything goes right. The Golden Eagles have a strong backcourt with former George Mason Patriot Tyler Kolek at point guard averaging 7.9 assists and Kam Jones leading the team in scoring with 13.3 points a game.

They will have their work cut out for them defending Cryer, Flagler and George, but the Golden Eagles force 16.4 turnovers a game and their opponents only shoot 30% from 3.

Marquette isn’t a great 3-point shooting team but Kolek is capable of knocking down shots and Baylor is 322nd in the nation at defending the 3-point shot. I don’t think the Golden Eagles ultimately knock off the Bears, but they do give Baylor a scare tonight.

Pick: Marquette +6.5 (-110)
