Baylor vs. Oklahoma State Updated Odds and Prediction for Big 12 Championship Game
By Matt De Saro
The Baylor Bears and Oklahoma State Cowboys face off this weekend in a highly anticipated Big 12 Title Game.
This is the second time in three years that Baylor has made it to the big game. Last season, the Bears suffered through a 2-7 season and didn’t come close to the title. It has been a truly impressive turnaround for this team.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have had an equally if not more impressive season. In other years, the Cowboys would be a lock for the CFP and still have an outside chance depending on how the other championship games go.

Baylor vs. Oklahoma State Prediction and Pick
The biggest story heading into this game continues to be the health of Baylor’s starting QB Gerry Bohanon. Bohanon missed last week’s game against Texas Tech after injuring his hamstring against Kansas State two weeks ago. While his status remains uncertain, Bohanon has been practicing this week. If he can’t go, redshirt freshman Blake Shapen will get his second career start. In his first against Texas Tech, Shapen was 20-for-34 with 254 yards and two touchdowns. It is a very good game for the signal-caller. However, I worry about his ability to start and succeed in such a high-pressure game as this. Sure, last week’s game was a “must-win” in a way. But, Texas Tech is no OK State and the Cowboys will present a much stiffer challenge.
Baylor is a popular underdog bet in the game but without knowing who will be under center, I don’t feel good about taking a chance on them. Even if I knew Bohanon was playing, I still think the Cowboys would be my play. Especially considering he is a dual-threat QB with a hamstring issue.
The Cowboys’ offense has woken up over the last few weeks and are averaging 40 PPG and 450 YPG over their last five games. Since the odds opened, the spread has dropped from 6.0 to 5.0 which makes the Cowboys an even stronger pick ATS.
Pick: Oklahoma State Cowboys -5.0 (-110)
