Bears vs. Steelers Spread Movement Puts Pittsburgh as Near Touchdown Favorite
By Matt De Saro
The Chicago Bears head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers in Week 9 at Heinz Field for Monday Night Football. While each of these teams is on a streak right now, the Bears run is of the losing kind.
When the odds dropped over the weekend, the Steelers were a 6-point favorite. But, the line has since been bet up to 6.5 in favor of the home team. As the week continues, the Steelers could end up as full touchdown favorites on Monday night.
Chicago is coming off a weak loss to the 49ers that has many doubting them in Week 9. In fact, there is a good chance that recency bias caused this line to move further in favor of the Steelers. Despite the loss, Justin Fields probably had his best game in Chicago; totaling 175 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The loss was the Bears' third straight and the team has been hard to trust after an up and down season. While their offense did perk up a bit last week, their defense collapsed and gave up 33 points to the Niners. Following their upset win over the Raiders, the Bears went on to lose by a combined score of 95-39 over the last three weeks.
The Steelers have a lot to be happy about heading into this home game. Historically, they play very well in primetime games at home, and will also be going up against a rookie quarterback who has struggled to find his groove. While their offense is rather uninspired this season, the defense is usually good enough to make up for it.
This will probably be a low-scoring affair with two very good defenses and two rather tepid offenses facing off. At least the Pittsburgh offense has done enough to keep them winning while the Bears continue to lose.
