The Cincinnati Bengals lost in overtime to the Green Bay Packers, 25-22, in what was a very interesting game for each team’s kicker.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 281 yards, two touchdown passes and two interceptions, with one interception coming on the first play of overtime. Cincinnati was saved by a missed field goal from Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby, then hurt by their own kicker Evan McPherson, then ultimately doomed by Mason Crosby’s 49-yard game winning field goal.

The Detroit Lions lost to the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, 19-17, with Vikings’ kicker Greg Joseph booting a 54-yard field goal as time expired. It only took Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins 37 seconds to go 46 yards to set up Joseph for the winning kick that would send the Lions to 0-5.

Bengals vs. Lions Prediction

Cincinnati took a loss against Green Bay that they probably should have won, but they couldn’t come through when it mattered most. The Bengals picked up a three-point overtime win over the Vikings in Week 1, lost by three to the Chicago Bears in Week 2, and edged out the winless Jaguars by three points in Week 4. This Cincinnati team is far too familiar with close games, and I think that trend continues this week against the Lions.

Detroit has lost by more than 10 points only once this season, losing to Green Bay 35-17 in Week 2. The Lions had a nice backdoor cover against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 that showed that this Detroit team won’t go down without a fight.

Cincinnati has allowed 20 or more points in four of five games this season, so I believe that the Lions can score without too much issue on the Bengals.

I’m taking Detroit at +3.5 on the spread, but I’ll take them on the moneyline too if that +160 starts creeping closer to +200.
