Tuesday offers another lighter slate of matchups in college basketball, but one game takes the cake for the best matchup of the evening by far.
At 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2, Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa hosts a primetime matchup between the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-1), and Memphis Tigers (8-2).
The Tigers rank just outside of the KenPom Top 25 ratings (26), but Penny Hardaway's squad put together a very strong resume in the early going of the season. Memphis has taken down five top 100 ranked teams in Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Stanford, Ole Miss and most recently No. 15 Auburn last Saturday 82-73. Their last loss came vs. Seton Hall back on Thanksgiving by just one point.
Meanwhile, Alabama has just one loss on the year in an 82-67 defeat to No. 12 UConn in Portland during the Phil Knight tournament over Thanksgiving weekend. So far this year, the Crimson Tide took taken down Michigan State, North Carolina in a thrilling four-overtime game, as well as No. 1 Houston on the road this weekend.
The Tigers are a 6.5-point consensus underdog on the road vs. the Crimson Tide this evening.
Other somewhat notable matchups for tonight include Furman taking on N.C. State in Raleigh at 6:30 p.m. on the ACC Network, while The Citadel takes on UNC at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN2, and Southern travels to Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on FS1.
While not available on national T.V., Rick Pitino's Iona Gales will battle their New Jersey in-state rival Princeton at Harwood Arena at 7:00 p.m. as well.
