Best Home Run Picks Today

William Contreras - Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Atlanta's had plenty of time to rest up for a familiar foe in Ranger Suárez and the Philadelphia Phillies, and that familiar face should put a smile on catcher William Contreras' face.

The Braves catcher hits fifth in the lineup today against Suarez, who he's already hit two dingers against in just 14 at-bats. He's 6-14 lifetime against the Phillies' left-hander with a .857 slugging percentage.

With good hitting weather and the sun out in Atlanta, I like Contreras to jump on Suárez in the first matchup of the day, and at a great price to boot considering his previous success.

José Ramírez - Cleveland Guardians at New York Yankees

Ramírez has a terrific matchup in Game 1 of the ALDS against the New York Yankees, as he’s dominated Gerrit Cole in his career.

The Guardians star has two home runs, five hits and four walks against Cole in 16 career at-bats, and the Yankees ace has been struggling with the long ball as of late.

Cole has allowed a homer in eight straight starts, allowing 12 in total over that stretch. I’ll fade him against Cleveland’s best hitter in Game 1. – Peter Dewey

Max Muncy - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres

It took a while for Muncy to get going this season after he battled injuries, but the 2021 MVP candidate has shown flashes in the second half of the season, raising his dismal batting average over the mendoza line and finding some of his power as well.

He’ll face righty Mike Clevinger, who has struggled limiting power to lefties, allowing 13 home runs compared to seven against right handed batters. Clevinger’s ERA ballooned to over 6.00 in his last six starts dating back to the beginning of September, and he can be in trouble against the Dodgers incredible lineup.

I’ll take Muncy to get the fireworks going with a big fly.  – Reed Wallach

Freddie Freeman - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres

Since the Padres had to play all three games of the wild card round, they have to resort to their fourth starter in Game 1 against the Dodgers. That starter, is Mike Clevinger, who has a 9.69 ERA across three starts against the Dodgers this season. He’s also giving up an average of 1.6 home runs per nine innings, so he’s a prime fade candidate when it comes to betting on someone to hit a homer.

Freddie Freeman has hit four homers against the Padres already this season, so now not a fifth tonight? – Iain MacMillan
