Best MLB Parlay Picks Today (Back the Top Pitchers on Monday's MLB Slate)
By Josh Yourish
It’s a lighter slate of MLB games as it often is on a Monday. A lot of teams get a rest day after their weekend series. That leaves us with less options for an MLB parlay, but that doesn’t mean we can’t build a great one. What I’m doing today is finding some of the best pitchers out there, and building an under parlay.
Best MLB Parlay Picks Today
Mariners vs. Angels Under 7.5 (-106)
Okay maybe we don’t have two aces in this game, but we have Logan Gilbert on the Seattle side. He has only allowed one earned run in three starts in September and he has a 3.19 ERA on the season. Gilbert’s last five starts have all gone under this total and the Mariners are missing some key pieces of their lineup.
Eugenio Suarez is on the 10-day IL and Julio Rodriguez missed the game on Sunday with a back injury. He could return to the lineup, but Jose Suarez has been pitching well enough to give me confidence in this bet.
The Mariners offense is the 26th best in the league over the past seven days.
Mets vs. Brewers Under 6.5 (-105)
This is truly a matchup of aces and maybe the two best pitchers in the National League over the past three years (apologies to the often injured Jacob deGrom). Max Scherzer had a bit of a tough stretch in August, but has righted the ship as he always does. His last two starts he has 16 strikeouts in 13 innings and just two earned runs allowed. His 2.26 ERA is one of the best in the league.
Corbin Burnes has his ERA under three as well despite also not pitching to his Cy Young standard lately. He did have a dominant eight innings, 14 strikeout performance earlier this month and he always has that up his sleeve. These two guys are hyper competitive elite pitchers who will use this game as a measuring stick and the offenses won’t have a chance.
Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers Under 7.5 (-122)
Clayton Kershaw is maybe the first guy that would come to mind when you think of an ace pitcher in the MLB. Since coming back from injury, Kershaw has dropped his ERA from 2.59 to 2.44 with seven scoreless innings his last time out. Kershaw is still doing it at a super high level and there is no reason to be scared of this total at 7.5.
Now, Merrill Kelly wouldn’t exactly pop into anyone’s mind when thinking of the best MLB pitchers, but he has been fantastic this year. He has a 3.01 ERA and it was sub three for all of August and most of September. Kelly just faced the Dodgers in his last start and he allowed three earned over five innings, but the game ended 4-0.
