A lot of nights when I look at the MLB slate I like to sniff out some underdogs that I love to win at plus odds, but today I just couldn’t find ones that I feel good about.

Instead, I have fallen in love with some big favorites tonight and instead of betting them on the run and having the lay -145 or something, why not just parlay them together and make my “Favorite Favorites” parlay.

Best MLB Parlay Picks Today

Athletics vs. Astros -1.5 (-140)

We start in Houston with the best team in the AL, and their old friend that has come back for the stretch run. Lance McCullers Jr. has returned from injury and has been nails. He was walking to many guys in his first few starts, but was getting away with it. Now, he is back to striking guys out with his signature curveball and getting absurd spin rates.

You think the 52-91 Oakland A’s have any chance of touching this?

The Astros will win big and have a good offensive night against James Kaprielian.

Royals vs. Twins -1.5 (+114)

The odds are not as favorable here and this might be the game I worry about dooming this parlay the most. It’s just hard to trust the Twins who recently dipped under .500 and say they are going to sweep a divisional opponent. I just know that Carlos Correa is hot right now and can easily carry this Minnesota offense against a struggling lefty like Daniel Lynch.

Dylan Bundy did not pitch well his last start, but the outing prior went five scoreless. Bundy can pitch well enough and the Twins need this game to pull off the sweep and stay alive in the playoffs. I think they will win it and win it big because of their offense and regardless of Bundy.

Reds vs. Cardinals -1.5 (-128)

You might be noticing a trend with these first three picks, I’m not only getting a team a like as a favorite, but I’m getting them at home which feels even better. The Cardinals are 48-25 at home and are 4-1 against Cincinnati at Busch Stadium.

Miles Mikolas has not been his All-Star self that he was in the first half of the season, but he is still a whole hell of a lot better than Chase Anderson who has an even 9.00 ERA.

Anderson has pitched nine innings this season and given up nine runs. Two of those outings came against St. Louis where he gave up seven earned runs in 2.1 innings. The Cardinals will get to Anderson early and then have six or seven innings of one of the worst bullpens in the league pitching to them.

It might feel like batting practice for the Cardinals today.

Padres (-176) vs. Diamondbacks

No, I didn’t take San Diego on the run line like the others, because they are on the road and that could create a closer game than I’m comfortable with. Sean Manaea is on the mound for San Diego and while he has had issues with the Dodgers in his last two starts, he has been fantastic against the Diamondbacks this year. Manaea has a 2.88 ERA in 25 innings against Arizona with 23 strikeouts and two walks.

There are a lot of spots not to trust Manaea in, like maybe the playoffs, but he can pitch well against a bad team.

Not to mention, that bad team has a rookie starter making his MLB debut today. Drey Jameson is the No. 9 prospect in their system, but is 25-years-old and has a 6.95 ERA in 21 starts at Triple-A this year. Sure the Pacific Coast League has inflated offensive numbers, but 5.40 is the league average ERA and Jameson far exceeds that.

MLB Parlay for September 15, 2022

The “Favorite Favorites” Parlay (+929)

  • Athletics vs. Astros -1.5 (-140)
  • Royals vs. Twins -1.5 (+114)
  • Reds vs. Cardinals -1.5 (-128)
  • Padres (-176) vs. Diamondbacks

Now, this is a swing for the fences, but the last time I did an MLB Parlay for Betsided, I hit at over +900 odds and it was a Thursday night. So, I’ve done it before and I’m confident that I’ll do it again tonight backing some of the biggest favorites on the MLB slate. Trust me you can still watch the Patrick Mahomes vs. Justin Herbert machine gun fight tonight, but just keep an eye on a big parlay.
