Best MLB Parlay Picks Today (Two Favorites, Two Underdogs, One Total Make Our Biggest Parlay Yet)
By Joe Summers
I may have gotten a little carried away yesterday when I said I'd probably never lose a parlay again. Dylan Cease turned into Dylan Bundy for a day in getting clobbered by the Red Sox to ensure I stay humble. It was nice of him to make that sacrifice.
But what I really meant was that starting today, I'd never lose a parlay again. Just got the days mixed up, is all.
We've got a packed MLB slate with games sprinkled all throughout the day, starting over lunch and carrying us through the end of the night. With so many games in store, you betcha we've got tons of value on the board. I've poured through the data and picked my favorite games, ones destined to create a winning hump day parlay.
Using the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, let's check out my favorite MLB parlay picks of the day:
Best MLB Parlay Picks Today
Pittsburgh Pirates First Five Innings (-125) vs Colorado Rockies
This will likely come as a surprise, but the Pirates actually have one of May's most dominant pitchers in Zach Thompson. Through 17 innings over four appearances this month, Thompson has only allowed a single run. He's displayed tremendous command and only surrendered nine hits, so he isn't even allowing many base runners.
On the other end, Colorado called up Ryan Feltner to make his second start of 2022 after giving up four runs in five innings to the Phillies last month. Feltner has a high strikeout rate, but amassed a 4.50 ERA in four AAA starts this month, so Thompson certainly has the edge.
I'm a bit worried about the Pirates' relievers, so I'll stick to the first five to maximize Thompson's advantage. Colorado has scored two or fewer runs in four of their last five, so I'll trust the revitalized Pittsburgh righty to continue his hot streak.
New York Mets vs San Francisco Giants Over 8.5 (-125)
After a thrilling 13-12 San Francisco win last night, both bullpens should be gassed. That'll put extra pressure on Thomas Szapucki and Jakob Junis against a pair of stellar lineups. The Mets called Szapucki up to make his first major league start after compiling a 2.57 ERA in four AAA starts this month. But he won't last more than a few innings, and the Giants rank fourth in OPS against left-handed pitchers in May. I expect they'll get to Szapucki quickly before beating up a tired bullpen.
Jakob Junis has pitched well but still ranks in only the 26th percentile in expected batting average and 25th in average exit velocity. The Mets' lineup is rolling, putting up 25 runs in the first two games of this series, and should be able to score on Junis.
The over is 11-3 in San Francisco's last 14 games and 5-2 in New York's last seven. As a bonus, the over is also 7-1 in the Giants' previous eight as a home favorite and has hit in three straight when the Mets are underdogs.
With high wind gusts blowing straight out to center field, those trends should continue today.
Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-130) vs Washington Nationals
Just like Thanos, the Dodgers are inevitable. They've won nine of 10 and send the dominant Julio Urias to the mound today to finish off the sweep. Urias hasn't allowed a single walk in his last four starts and ranks in the 92nd percentile in hard-hit percentage. Washington is 25th in OPS against left-handed pitchers and should continue to struggle.
Nationals' starter Erick Fedde has a 9.00 ERA in four home starts and is in the 15th percentile in walk percentage. Los Angeles averages the most walks per game in the league, and their patient yet powerful approach should pay dividends. Washington is 2-14 in their last 16 home games with 11 of those losses coming on the run line. The Dodgers get the sweep in dominant fashion.
Oakland Athletics (+155) vs Seattle Mariners
The A's finally got over the hump last night, beating the Mariners for the first time in 14 tries. They'll notch a second straight win today behind your new favorite pitcher, Paul Blackburn.
In eight starts this season, Blackburn has a 4-0 record and 1.91 ERA. He's only allowed three runs once and always puts Oakland in a position to win. As a result, the Athletics are 7-1 in Blackburn's starts and their only loss came in extra innings after a blown save.
Since the A's are usually underdogs, Blackburn continues to provide value. If you bet $100 on the Oakland moneyline in each of his eight starts, you'd be up $840. Take the value on Oakland to really make this a special parlay.
Philadelphia Phillies (+152) vs Atlanta Braves
Why not? Let's get two moneyline underdogs in this bad boy! This price is way too high for me with Ranger Suarez taking on Charlie Morton. Suarez ranks in the 86th percentile in average exit velocity and has a 2.50 road ERA this year. He held the powerful Dodgers lineup to just three runs over seven innings in his last road start and hasn't allowed more than three in a single outing.
Charlie Morton, meanwhile, continues to be a pitcher I want to fade. He's better at home, but still ranks in the 22nd percentile in expected ERA and has a 4.95 ERA on the year. The Phillies are 7-1 on the run line in their last eight as an underdog and 5-3 outright, so the value is too good to pass up here.
Philadelphia is 6-2 when Suarez pitches this year, including winning all three on the road. If you bet $100 on the Phillies moneyline in each of Suarez's starts, you'd be up $389. I'll happily back the superior pitcher at such high odds.
