Best MLB prop bets today (Back Houston's Hottest Hitter)

Today we have a two pitchers to back because of their unique splits and one hitter that is just absolutely on fire since the All-Star break.

There is plenty of MLB action today and a lot of early starts to get our day of gambling started. Let’s get into a couple of prop bets for this daytime action and a couple into the evening.

I have one pitcher that I’m backing at home, a hitter that is red hot and a first inning trend to follow for our three bets today. Let’s get right into it.

MLB prop bet picks

  • Zack Greinke under 2.5 earned runs allowed (-110)
  • 1st inning result Seattle Mariners (+350)
  • Chas McCormick over 1.5 total bases (+145)

Zack Greinke under 2.5 earned runs allowed (-110)

Greinke has not been good this year, but if you dig a little deeper you’ll find that he’s just awful on the road, but actually a good pitcher in Kansas City. That’s been the case for two years now and with his 3.67 ERA at home in nine starts compared to 7.42 on the road, he can be trusted with this prop bet. I’m backing the Royals to win as well, but this is probably the better bet to just back Greinke and now his terrible team.

1st inning result Seattle Mariners (+350)

George Kirby is making the start today opposite Pablo Lopez. Both pitchers have been very good this season and this could be a pitcher’s duel, but I like Kirby to be pitching with a lead. Kirby is 10th of all starting pitchers in first inning ERA at 2.00 while Lopez has a 4.74 ERA in the first. Lopez allows an .853 OPS to hitters in the first and has given up four home runs in the opening frame.

Chas McCormick over 1.5 total bases (+145)

The Houston Astros have a lot of big names in their lineup, but the hottest hitter by far is Chas McCormick who has the best ERA in all of baseball since returning from the All-Star break. He has hit four home runs in five games with a 1.874 OPS and his .652 OBP is a great sign for this kind of bet. I love getting plus odds here.
