Every day in the Major League Baseball season, the BetSided team breaks down their favorite prop bets for that day.

We've had a solid season, going 26 picks over .500 so far, and Peter Dewey and Reed Wallach are looking to add to that record with a pair of pitching props on Sunday, July 31.

Let's jump into their picks:

  • Taijuan Walker OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-155)

Adrian Sampson UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-105)

Adrian Sampson has been solid for the Chicago Cubs since joining their rotation, pitching to a 3.20 ERA this season. He’s coming off seven innings of two-run ball against the Pittsburgh Pirates in his last outing, and yet, I’m fading him tonight.

Let me explain.

Sampson has cleared 17.5 outs in just one start (the last one against Pittsburgh) all season long. He’s only gotten to 5.2 innings twice in six starts.

The Giants are much better than the Pirates, ranking 14th in OPS and seventh in runs scored this season. Sampson may turn in another solid start, but I don’t think he has back-to-back outing where he gets through six innings since he only has one time this year. – Peter Dewey

Taijuan Walker OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-155)

It's juicy, but Walker has gotten back to his strikeout ways after struggling to find that punch out pitch early in the season. Since the beginning of June, he is striking out 5.7 batters per start after posting just 2.7 in the first two months.

He is facing a Miami Marlins team that is lost at the plate over the last month and should give Walker plenty of opportunities to get ahead in the count and also go long into this game. Over all the way. – Reed Wallach
