While yesterday wasn’t the perfect day we were hoping for, it was a step in the right direction to getting on track. We had two winners last night, but missed out on the Mets’ team total and our attempt to double dip on Cal Quantrill’s strikeout props.

Today, we’re continuing our trek towards a sweep with several pitching props.

You can also find game-by-game betting plays and previews for every matchup on our MLB Picks page, as well as each team's probable pitchers, weather report and more.

All odds listed are via consensus sportsbooks unless stated otherwise.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today

  • Shohei Ohtani OVER 8.5 Strikeouts (+102)
  • Triston McKenzie OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-150)
  • Spencer Howard OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (+105)
  • Jose Urquidy UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+105) - DraftKings Sportsbook

Shohei Ohtani OVER 8.5 Strikeouts (+102)

Ohtani is one of the only bright spots for the Angels and is currently on fire. He’s hit double-digit strikeouts in his last five starts. This line should be one strikeout above this one, so I like feeling like I’m getting a discount on a superstar. The Rangers are just outside the bottom third in terms of strikeouts per game. Ohtani will take advantage of that and dominate today. – Donnavan Smoot

Triston McKenzie OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-150)

Triston McKenzie has been simply unhittable in July for the Cleveland Guardians. The young righty has four starts this month and he’s allowed just one earned run over 26.1 innings (0.34 ERA) while striking out 27 batters.

This season, McKenzie has pitched six-plus innings (what he will need to do to clear this prop) in all but two of his 18 starts. The Boston Red Sox are struggling, going 2-8 in their last 10 games and ranking in the bottom 10 in the league in OPS and runs scored over the last 30 days.

Even though he only got through 5.2 innings in his last start, I’m backing McKenzie to stay hot and handle Boston tonight. – Peter Dewey

Spencer Howard OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (+105)

It usually sounds like a terrible idea to bet on a pitcher with a 7.11 ERA, but it might be a sneaky good time to back him to go over his strikeout total tonight of 4.5 against the Angels. Los Angeles has had the worst strikeout rate in the Majors in the month of July, striking out on 29.6% of their plate appearances. As long as Howard doesn't get lit up and is forced to leave the game early, which he shouldn't against the Angels' horrible offense, he can surpass this total. – Iain MacMillan

Jose Urquidy UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+105) - DraftKings Sportsbook

Urquidy is a solid pitcher in the Astros' rotation, but he's due for some regression and the under on his K-prop offers too much value for bettors tonight at home against the Mariners.

Urquidy averages only 6.88 strikeouts/nine innings this year, and while he's going deeper into games (no less than six innings since June 14), he's only hit this prop in three of his last seven outings.

He also faced Seattle back on July 22, going six strong innings allowing one earned run on a solo home run and struck out just three.

Urquidy should pitch well at home, just not well enough to hit this particular prop. – Ben Heisler
