Eduardo Rodriguez OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (-118) - Detroit Tigers vs. Houston Astros

Rodriguez is starting to become the Forest Gump box of chocolates analogy for his starts this year in that you’re not really sure what you’re going to get.

The left-hander went seven innings on the road vs. the Angels, allowing three solo home runs, but that was it as far as damage was concerned.

He now faces a very talented Astros lineup at home, but one that he held down back in May, striking out eight over 6.2 innings.

As Iain MacMillan pointed out in his betting preview earlier today, Houston ranks middle of the pack vs. left-handed pitching despite some of their otherwise strong numbers all season. Rodriguez has already shown he can be dominant vs. this team and 3.5 is not a tough number to climb. – Ben Heisler

Spencer Strider OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (-112) - Atlanta Braves at San Francisco Giants

Strider has been one of the best strikeout pitchers this season, punching out more than 13 batters per 9 innings. Since the All-Star break, Strider is averaging 8.6 strikeouts per start and is facing a Giants team that is striking out at a top five rate in baseball over the last two weeks.

Strider has been dominant all year, I have to take this number. – Reed Wallach

Alex Cobb OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+104) - San Francisco Giants vs. Atlanta Braves

This may surprise you, but the Atlanta Braves, one of the best teams in baseball, sports the second highest strikeout rate in the Majors when facing right-handed pitchers. This season, they’ve struck out on 25.3% of their plate appearances when facing a righty, the only team that’s worse is the Los Angeles Angels at 26.7%.

Things haven’t gotten better in that area lately either. This month alone, the Braves have struck out on 28.2% of plate appearances against righties.

Now they face right-handed pitcher, Alex Cobb, who has reached seven strikeouts in two of his last three starts. All we need is for him to hit six tonight, and we’ll cash this prop at plus-money. - Iain MacMillan
