Triston McKenzie UNDER 5.5 Strikeouts (+125) - Cleveland Guardians vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
We’re sticking with a similar bet that cashed for us yesterday, but this time we’re getting it at plus-money, which is good news for those of you who had no interest in backing it at -165.
The Arizona Diamondbacks, despite being one of the worst teams in the Majors, has been fantastic in the strikeout department for the past month. Dating back to July 1st, they have the fourth lowest strikeout rate at 19.5%. Only the Guardians (18.6%), Blue Jays (18.9%), and the Dodgers (19.4%) have better numbers.
Triston McKenzie has surpassed this number in three of his five starts since July 1st, but that’s probably why we’re able to get it at the tempting price of +125 tonight.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but let’s have some faith in the Diamondbacks tonight. – Iain MacMillan
Zac Gallen OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (+105) - Arizona Diamondbacks at Cleveland Guardians
At first glance, taking a pitcher’s over in strikeouts against the Guardians can be cause for concern. After all, they lead the majors with an 18.5% strikeout percentage this year.
However, Gallen’s hit this over in four consecutive games, and has been particularly sharp over his last three starts; giving up just three earned runs and nine hits over 18.2 innings. He’s averaging right around a strikeout per inning and averaging just over six innings per start, so the numbers line up in his favor at plus-value.
I think 4.5 is a good number to back Gallen on regardless of the odds, so to have it set at this number is even sweeter. – Ben Heisler
Keegan Thompson OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-110) - Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals
The Cubs and starter Keegan Thompson take on the Cardinals on Tuesday, and I’m backing Thompson to stay hot in this matchup.
Thompson comes off seven innings of two-run ball (0 earned runs) against the Pirates, and he’s cleared 15.5 outs recorded in five of his last seven starts. Outside of giving up five earned runs against the Mets, Thompson has pitched to a 3.16 ERA this season.
I think he gets into the sixth inning in this matchup with a Cardinals team that can struggle at times to score. – Peter Dewey
Yu Darvish UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts (+135) - San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies
I understand that Darvish is on fire right now. He’s cleared this line in four of his last five games. However, I think he’s due for a little regression today.
The Rockies average the 8th-fewest strikeouts per game and have the seventh-best strikeout percentage in baseball. Darvish, even in a great month, has had a few slip up games in which he allowed multiple home runs.
If that happens today, his day could end early and cause him to miss this line. – Donnavan Smoot
