Arguably the most competitive series of the weekend goes down in Flushing with a pair of stars taking the mound on Friday night.

The Padres travel to Citi Field to take on the Mets, sending out one of the high end pitchers in Yu Darvish. New York will counter with Max Scherzer, who has shown little issue since returning from an oblique injury that sidelined him for several weeks.

We broke down both starters strikeout props as our favorite prop bets for Friday's loaded baseball slate.

  • Max Scherzer OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (+105)
  • Yu Darvish UNDER 7.5 Strikeouts (-125)

Max Scherzer OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (+105)

In Mad Max's three starts since returning from injury, he's notched 31 strikeouts. The guy is better than ever and I don't understand how we're getting plus money on this prop. San Diego's struggling lineup ranks 24th in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last month, so I'm not worried about them getting to Scherzer early or anything.

Scherzer has cleared 7.5 strikeouts in 10 of his last 12 starts against the Padres and ranks in the 95th percentile in strikeout percentage. We're getting a discount since he was hurt, but I'll happily buy Mad Max to continue doing what he always does: strike out everyone. -- Joe Summers

Yu Darvish UNDER 7.5 Strikeouts (-125)

It's a tale of two pitchers for Darvish when we look at his home vs. away splits. While he posts a 1.91 at Petco Park this season, he has a concerningly high 5.25 on the road this season.

The Mets are a tough matchup for Darvish to have his way given that the team is in the bottom 10 in strikeout rate this season. Darvish may have punch out power, but I'm not sure that he's going to get out of the early innings and get comfortable on the road. This number is a touch too high for me. --Reed Wallach
