Brayan Bello UNDER 3.5 Strikeouts (+102)
It has not been a fun start to a career for Bello. In three starts, he’s 0-2, has a 10.50 ERA and is giving up nearly five runs per outing. The Red Sox have him pitch for four innings in each of his starts, which is short enough for me to fade him tonight.
Bello has only reached this line once, but I see that as an early exception. He’s not pitching well and I'll fade him until he proves he can be trusted. – Donnavan Smoot
Martin Perez OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+120)
I will continue to fade the Angels' bats, no matter the cost. They struck out five times and couldn't record a single run against Spencer Howard yesterday, how do you think they're going to fare against an all-star pitcher in Martin Perez today? My bet would be that they're probably going to stink. Again. The Angels have a strikeout rate in July of 29.4%, that's 1.8% worse than the next worse team. Sure, Perez isn't exactly a strikeout machine, but he's recorded six and nine strikeouts, respectively, in each of his last two games. He's also surpassed this total in four of his last six starts. Why can't he do it again tonight? – Iain MacMillan
This is right at the All-Star's season average (5.1), but this matchup sets up for Pérez to go over the total. The Angels have the highest strikeout rate this month, 29.4%, and are 25th in batting average against lefties. There are plenty of indicators to back the Rangers starter to do what he's been doing all season. – Reed Wallach
