Don't be sad if you missed out on the Bitcoin boom. There's a new gold rush that's going to make us rich this season and leave those crypto people shaking in their boots: blatantly fading the Brooklyn Nets' defense.
This team is baaaad right now, with the second-worst defensive rating and net rating in the NBA after getting trounced by the Bucks. Well, guess who happens to have the best offensive rating in the league? That's right, the Mavs!
Christian Wood is playing spectacular ball, scoring at least 23 points in every game while shooting 62.2% from the field. His minutes have increased in each contest, and he looked great against good defenses like the Pelicans and Suns.
Brooklyn's interior defensive plan seems to be, to put it kindly, nonexistent. Thus, Wood should have ample opportunity to dominate inside while the Nets desperately try to contain Luka. The Nets rank 23rd in opponent points in the paint per game (53.5), and I'd feel comfortable backing Wood's points prop up to 22.5. – Joe Summers
Wood has cleared this line in every game this season. He’s shooting 62% from the field, 61% from three and gets to face a terrible defense tonight. Obviously Wood’s percentages are going to drop, but he’ll be able to get his shots off against the Nets.
Ben Simmons is going to be focused on Luka Dončić , which means the inside of the paint will be wide open.
He’ll also be able to stretch the floor, as he’s taking just over four threes per game. As the second leading scorer on the team, this is a great line to back. – Donnavan Smoot
Dallas Mavericks First Quarter Moneyline (-125)
This is one of my favorite bets of the night, as the Mavericks have been terrific in first quarters so far this season.
Dallas is averaging 34.0 points per game in the first quarter (second in the NBA) while the Nets are 27th in the league with 24.0 points per game.
To make matters worse, Brooklyn’s starting lineup of Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Royce O’Neale and Nic Claxton is the WORST lineup in the NBA so far this season in terms of net rating.
Dalla should start hot tonight. – Peter Dewey
De'Aaron Fox OVER 36.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-110)
Pace up late night West Coast basketball? Yes please!
The Sacramento Kings play at the fourth-fastest pace in the league, and while the Memphis Grizzlies haven't matched that same frenetic style of ball this season, they're more than capable of going up-tempo.
Sacramento may not have a win to their name, but I'm not faulting De’Aaron Fox for its lack of success. So far the numbers are off the charts this year, with a massive jump in PPG (23.2 to 31.7), assists (5.6 to 7), and rebounds (3.9 to 5.7).
I'm not sure why the oddsmakers haven't adjusted Fox's numbers through the early going, but I expect they will sooner rather than later. -- Ben Heisler
