Best NBA Prop Bets Today
- Spencer Dinwiddie OVER 16.5 Points
- Mavs 1Q -2.5 vs. Pistons
- Pistons 4Q +0.5
Spencer Dinwiddie OVER 16.5 Points
I backed Dinwiddie to clear this prop against the Warriors, and he was on track to hit the OVER. Then, he got ejected in the third quarter. You hate to see it. However, tonight he’s going against a terrible Pistons defense and should be looking to make up all the points he missed out on. He had an off night from three against the Warriors. We’re going to bank on some positive regression here and trust Dinwiddie again. – Donnavan Smoot
Mavs 1Q -2.5 vs. Pistons
The Mavericks are one of the best first quarter teams in the league, ranking fifth in first quarter points. They average 30 points in the opening period, while the Pistons are 28th in that category (26.7). The first quarter is also Luka Dončić’s favorite quarter. He leads the league in first quarter scoring at 11.6 points. With a bad Pistons defense, we can expect a fast start from the Mavs tonight. – Donnavan Smoot
Pistons 4Q +0.5
As Donnavan Smoot pointed out in his betting preview and best bet for tonight's lone NBA game, Dallas has been brutal at covering the spread. Part of that reason is that their offense becomes slow and stagnant in the final 12 minutes of the game.
The Mavericks rank 28th in the NBA in 4th quarter net rating on the road at -15.7. Their assist ratio falls way way down to just 14.3, fourth-worst in the NBA in the 4th quarter because it's all going through Luka. They also can't generate second chance points with by far and away the worst offensive rebounding percentage on the road in the 4th quarter.
Is Detroit good? No, but given that Dallas is coming off a massive win vs. Golden State, as well as their propensity to start off games well, I expect them to likely give some veterans more minutes off, giving the Pistons an opportunity to capitalize late and outscore them in the end. – Ben Heisler
