Best NBA Prop Bets Today

  • Joel Embiid OVER 28.5 Points
  • Mavericks 1Q (-0.5) / ML -124 at Wizards
  • Tyrese Maxey Over 23.5 Points

Joel Embiid OVER 28.5 Points

This will be the third game that James Harden misses because of his foot injury, and that means that Embiid will have to carry the load offensively. We’re going to get a flashback to what he looked like early last season when he was the frontrunner for MVP. If Embiid doesn’t score 30 tonight, I would be shocked. If he can get to the line to make it easier on himself, I like the play even more. – Donnavan Smoot

Mavericks 1Q (-0.5) / ML -124 at Wizards

We hit yesterday with the Jazz in Atlanta as a dog in the first quarter vs. the Hawks, and we’ll keep rolling with another early NBA bet with the Mavericks in D.C. this evening.

Dallas’ first quarter offense has been superb, ranking 3rd in the NBA in offensive rating in the first 12 minutes, controlling the pace to their advantage at the second slowest rate in the league.

Washington owns a bottom 9 1st quarter net rating in the league so far, including bottom 4 at home.

I like this play both on the moneyline, as well as at the -0.5 spread at several books. Although I’d hurry because it’s already creeping up to -1 at many others. — Ben Heisler

Tyrese Maxey Over 23.5 Points

Maxey had a poor night in his last game against the Suns, shooting just 4/18 from the field en route to 11 points. That makes tonight the perfect time to back the rising star, as he's been on a tear otherwise.

In his six games prior to the Suns matchup, Maxey averaged 30 points per game, clearing this prop five times. He's been spectacular as the Sixers' go-to perimeter scorer, shooting nearly 42% from beyond the arc on over seven attempts per game.

With at least 20 shots in five of his last six contests, Maxey's volume alone should get him over this number. The Hawks play at the league's seventh-fastest pace but rank 27th in defensive rebounding percentage, so the Sixers should get plenty of second-chance opportunities as well.

The logic here is the same we used to hit on Desmond Bane yesterday: sportsbooks haven't caught up to the leap Maxey made, so we need to hammer his points prop until they do. Back Maxey's points over with confidence up to 25.5. – Joe Summers
