The Steelers have a bit of a quarterback controversy on their hands this week with Kenny Pickett out. It appears that Mitch Trubisky is getting the start, but he’ll be on a short leash with Mason Rudolph waiting to get his first action of the year. The Panthers have sorted out their quarterback problems with Sam Darnold taking the reins and mostly handing the ball off.

Pittsburgh couldn’t stop the run last week, and that’s bad news heading into a matchup with the run heavy Panthers. I’m backing Carolina’s running game with some of my prop bets. Here are my three favorites for this one.

Best NFL Prop Bets for Steelers vs. Panthers

  • D’Onta Foreman Over 16.5 Rush Attempts (+105)
  • Chuba Hubbard Over 33.5 Rush Yards (-110)
  • George Pickens Long Reception Over 18.5 Yards (-114)

D’Onta Foreman Over 16.5 Rush Attempts (+105)

Foreman is the No. 1 back in Carolina's backfield that has become a pretty impressive and underrated 1-2 punch. Sam Darnold gave an interview after their win over Seattle last week and basically said the key to everything for them is running the ball. That’s the plan for this team and they’re sticking to it. Something has to go incredibly wrong for Foreman to get less than 17 carries, even if they’re down in the game they’ll keep running it.

Chuba Hubbard Over 33.5 Rush Yards (-110)

Hubbard is the second piece of this backfield and he’s been very solid as well. He’s averaging 4.5 yards per carry compared to Foreman’s 4.3 and though he’s only averaging 22.5 yards a game, he’s been much more productive lately. Pittsburgh couldn’t stop Baltimore with a third-string QB in the game and everyone in the entire city knowing the Ravens were going to run the ball.

George Pickens Long Reception Over 18.5 Yards (-114)

Pickens might be the only person in Pittsburgh happy to have Mitch Trubisky starting this game. Trubisky has been awful this year, aside from a half against Tampa Bay, but he deserves credit for pushing the ball downfield when he’s been in there. There will be a couple deep shots to Pickens in this one and if one of them connects then you’ve got your over. This is my favorite bet for this entire game.
