It's the first official NFL Sunday of the year!

With a full slate of games to wager on, it's time to start working on your perfect imprint into your couch. Grab some drinks, food, and your phone/laptop and enjoy what you've spent more than 200-plus days waiting for since the conclusion of the Super Bowl.

You can find our team's betting picks and predictions for every game on the slate here, but if you're looking for specific props to consider, I've got you covered.

Here are my three favorite NFL prop bets to consider with the Week 1 slate about to kick off.

Best NFL Prop Bets for Week 1

  • A.J. Brown OVER 65.5 Receiving Yards (FanDuel Sportsbook)
  • Marcus Mariota OVER 23.5 Rushing Yards (FanDuel Sportsbook)
  • Trey Lance UNDER 193.5 Passing Yards (BetMGM Sportsbook)

A.J. Brown OVER 65.5 Receiving Yards - Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions

I know the Lions are the darlings of the NFL ahead of Week 1, and they will be much more competitive, but the Eagles' acquisition of Brown to the mix is worthwhile, and there's nobody on Detroit that can lock him down.

The Lions ranked dead last in the NFL in net yards per pass attempt and 24th in passing yards allowed, despite only giving up the sixth-fewest pass attempts on them last season.

Brown has one of the best WR/CB matchups of the week according to Pro Football Focus, and while I like the OVER on his receiving numbers today, I'm also sprinkling a little on his anytime TD prop as well at +140.

Marcus Mariota OVER 23.5 Rushing Yards - Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints

The Saints finished 2021 as the best defense in football in rushing yards per attempt. While that may look like a reason to fade Mariota, I think it actually helps the veteran signal-caller; knowing he may have to likely improvise throughout their matchup at home with New Orleans likely taking away much of their success with Cordarelle Patterson and Damien Williams.

As a starter during his first four seasons in Tennessee, Mariota averaged 21, 23.3, 20.8 and 25.5 yards per game. The line has started to move up quite a bit at some books, so if you can still find Mariota at 23.5, lock it in.

Trey Lance UNDER 193.5 Passing Yards - San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears

Rain is going to be a major factor in today's game in Chicago by the lakefront, with chances of thunderstorms and 80-100% chance of precipitation in the forecast all game long.

Kyle Shanahan's 49ers led the NFL in both rushing attempts and rush yards a season ago, and now feature a quarterback in Lance that can beat teams with his legs, unlike his predecessor Jimmy Garoppolo.

Chicago no longer has their best run-stuffer in Akiem Hicks, and Eddie Goldman retired from the league. They also no longer have Khalil Mack and feature three new starters on the front four with Angelo Blackson, Justin Jones and Al-Quadin Muhammad in new head coach Matt Eberflus' Tampa-2 system.

The weather, plus the 49ers' propencity to run should only highlight San Francisco running at will vs. Chicago this afternoon, limiting Lance's chances through the air.
