It is a beautiful fall Friday with the leaves turning all over America, and we have playoff baseball all day. What could be better than that? Well a drink on me certainly wouldn’t hurt. It’s our weekly ritual and I’ll make sure not to let you down this time.

With three games on the slate I’m confident I can nail both the No Run First Inning and Yes Run First Inning pick today. The games are starting early, but there’s nothing wrong with day drinking.

Best NRFI Bets Today

Guardians vs. Yankees (-170)

Sure we have to pay the price at -170, but this feels like a strong wager in the Bronx after a rainout last night. Nestor Cortes Jr. is on the mound for New York and he will easily get through the top of the Guardians order that has Steve Kwan and Jose Ramirez flipping around to the right side.

For the Guardians we just need Shane Bieber to get three outs and that seems like a safe bet considering how he pitched against Tampa and the extra day of rest.

Dodgers vs. Padres (-140)

Turns out I’m actually doubling up on NRFI picks today because the value here was just too good to pass up. The game I would most throw in as a YRFI pick is Atlanta and Philly, maybe the nerves of a first postseason start get to Spencer Strider, but I think he’s fantastic and he and Nola will have a pitchers duel.

Anyways back to the west coast, Blake Snell is taking the mound for San Diego and I was so ready to fade him. He hasn’t really been that Cy Young version of himself in San Diego, but that is because of how he drops off the second time through the order. His first inning ERA this year was 1.88 with only one home run and 34 strikeouts in 24 first innings. His ERA is actually 1.88 for each of the first three innings and then balloons to 6.35 and 6.27 for the fourth and fifth.

Tony Gonsolin is the same way with a 0.75 ERA in the first inning this season. He is another pitcher who is great the first time through the order and his ERA jumps to 4.05 in the fifth inning.
