It’s Friday already? I guess so and as we roll into fall we can start to order the pumpkin beers and spiked ciders when we go out in jeans and a hoodie or a flannel. It’s the best time of the year and one of my last chances to buy you your first round on a Friday night. I’ve been doing it all summer and I won’t stop now, so ride these No Run First Inning and Yes Run First Inning bets that I have for you and get that first round of drinks on me.

Diamondbacks vs. Giants -146

First of all, Alex Cobb is starting for the Giants. I knew he was a solid pitcher and a good guy to back on an NRFI bet, but his 3.67 ERA is nothing compared to his 1.05 ERA in the first inning. He has given up just three earned runs in the 26 first innings he has pitched this year.

Merrill Kelly on the other side is somebody I love to back because he is such an underrated great pitcher. He has a 3.13 ERA on the year on nearly 200 innings pitched.

Orioles vs. Yankees -106

Over the last seven days, the Baltimore Orioles have played six games, and in those six games they have hit 15 home runs, scored 40 runs, and have a team OPS of .916. They are on a tear right now led by Anthony Santander who has six of those 15 long balls. Santander has a 1.250 OPS over that stretch. Domingo German will have his work cut out in inning No. 1.

The Yankees get to see Jordan Lyles, who despite a 4.55 ERA has been a fairly reliable starter for Baltimore. He has a 3.77 first inning ERA, but has allowed five first inning home runs this year and has to face Aaron Judge as the first batter of the game.
