Okay, I’m nothing if not accountable, and I have to hold myself accountable for my performance on No Run First Inning and Yes Run First Inning bets yesterday. We’re still way up on the season, but the postseason is a different story after one day. I’m not worried because we’re going to hit both picks today and be back in the green.

Best NRFI Bet Today

Mariners vs. Blue Jays -132

Robbie Ray is the weakest pitcher taking the mound today, but this is still a game that I would target in the regular season as a great NRFI spot. So, I’m not going to change my process in the postseason. The Mariners struck early against Alek Manoah yesterday, but Gausman has a 2.90 ERA in the first inning and will get through it clean today.

Best YRFI Bet Today

Rays vs. Guardians +158

Tyler Glasnow is on the mound and he’s a fantastically talented pitcher, but I don’t think his high strikeout style is a good matchup against Cleveland’s offense. The Guardians have struck out the least in the MLB this season and against Shane McClanahan they only struck out five times in the seven innings he was on the mound. Glasnow is making his third start of the year in the playoffs.
