Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today (Fade Cole Back in the Bronx)

Finally, we have two games on tonight. It’s only been a couple of days, but it feels like an eternity since we were able to have a No Run First Inning and a Yes Run First Inning bet in the same night. Postseason baseball is great, but even if you’re locked into College Football all day or more excited that the NBA is back, then just bet the first inning of these games. I know you can flip the channel for six out and get your postseason baseball fill for the day.
Here’s how I’ll be betting the games today.
Best NRFI Bet Today
Padres vs. Phillies -115
This might be a little confusing if you consider the starting pitchers in the ALCS today, but I like Mike Clevinger and Bailey Falter to get through the first unscathed. Falter has yet to pitch in the postseason and that is a concern for me, but his first inning ERA of 2.25 is much better than his 3.86 for the year.
The same goes for Mike Clevinger who had a tough time in his only start of the postseason. Clevinger has a 2.86 ERA in the first inning this year. I think the problems come for Clevinger a little later in this outing and he pitches to his 4.33 ERA from the regular season.
This game won’t be low-scoring, but it will be scoreless through one.
Best YRFI Bet Today
Astros vs. Yankees +118
Cristian Javier and Gerrit Cole are both much better pitchers than Falter and Clevinger, but these two have had their first inning struggles this season. Javier has a 3.24 ERA in the first, his second worst inning, and allows a .675 OPS in the first, the highest he allows in any inning. If the Yankees are going to get to him, they better do it early.
The same goes for Cole who has a staggeringly high first inning ERA. He allowed more runs in the first than in any other inning and worked to a 4.91 ERA. His 3.50 ERA for the season isn’t exactly stellar either.
