Best NRFI and YRFI bets today (Fade Giolito in the first)
By Josh Yourish
The weather is awful over in England where mostly everyone has watched Brian Harman run away with The Open Championship, but it’s pretty nice across most of the US and that means everyone will want to get outside to enjoy it. We still need to get our MLB bets in and you can certainly spare five or ten minutes to watch the first inning. So, let’s place a couple of first inning over/under bets, specifically one No Run First Inning and one Yes Run First Inning bet for this loaded Sunday slate of baseball.
Best NRFI bet today
Rockies vs. Marlins
This is one of my favorite bets across the board today, that includes full game bets or any other props. Jesus Luzardo has been great this year and is No. 1 in the MLB in first inning ERA at 0.45. He’s only allowed three first inning runs in his 20 starts and only one has been earned. The Rockies are also 28th in OPS against left-handed pitchers this season.
On the other side it’ll be Ty Blach on the mound for Colorado. Miami’s offense is 27th in first inning runs per game at 0.39.
Best YRFI bet today
White Sox vs. Twins
The White Sox are 27th in first inning runs per game at 0.39 which isn’t great for this bet, but what is great is Lucas Giolito taking the mound for Chicago. Giolito is third worst in all of baseball in first inning ERA at 7.65. He’s someone I’m consistently fading in these YRFI bets. Bailey Ober is starting for Minnesota and he’s someone I’m fading in general. Ober has a 2.74 ERA, but a 3.46 FIP, so regression will come for him in the second half.
