I went 2-for-2 on these picks yesterday and we’re going to keep it rolling on the weekend. With so many sports on tonight, why wouldn’t you just want to bet the first inning, make some money, and get on to the NHL conference finals, or maybe just get out to the bar.

Here are some picks that can pay for your first drink… You’re welcome.

Best NRFI Bets Today

Dodgers vs. Giants -115

When looking for an NRFI pick, I like to find games with an opener if possible. These are teams going with bullpen games and trusting one of their backend guys to take the first inning. That is usually a good strategy, but when you can combine that with an all-time great starting pitcher coming back after a month off -- then I love that bet.

Clayton Kershaw is not one to give up runs in any inning, and certainly won’t his first inning back. Sam Long has been a solid arm for the Giants bullpen and only gave up a run in one of his starts this season.

Reds vs. Cardinals -125

I’ll give you a little bonus NRFI pick too because I love this one and I’m betting it, maybe even parlaying them together. Wainwright has continued to dominate even in his age 63 season. This Reds lineup doesn’t strike fear into a bettor, but the reason I love this bet so much is Hunter Greene.

He’s starting for Cincinnati and while he has had ups and downs in his rookie year.  He’s been really good the first time through the order. No start exemplifies that more than when he pitched against Boston on June 1st. He struck out the first four he faced and had six K’s through three scoreless innings, but gave up four runs in the fourth and could not get out of the inning.

Even if Greene struggles today it won’t happen early.

Best YRFI Bet Today

Rays vs. Twins -115

Chi Chi Gonzalez has one start on the year, but in that one start he got tagged for two runs in the first inning.  Not to mention a run has scored in the first inning either for or against Minnesota in 10 of their last 11 games, which is a ridiculous stat.

It seems likely that this will continue not only because of Gonzalez on the mound, but also Shane Baz making his first start of the year against the top of the Twins order that included Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa.  They have combined for 6 home runs in their last two games.
