We were one game away from a 3-0 sweep in yesterday's edition of my NRFI/YRFI article, with the Cubs and Braves failing to score a run in the first inning being our only loss.

With that being said, 2-1 is still a profitable outing, so I'll take it!

Today's slate is jam-packed with afternoon action as the MLB clears the schedule for tonight's NFL Draft. Here are my top three NRFI and YRFI bets for Thursday, April 28.

All odds listed are via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Top NRFI and YRFI Bets for April 28th

Rockies vs. Phillies YRFI +110

Zack Wheeler gets the start for the Phillies this afternoon, and he's been terrible this season. He's 0-3 with an 8.53 ERA. Now he faces a Rockies team that's second in batting average (.263) and third in OPS (.751). They're also in the top half of the MLB in runs per game, averaging 0.53.

Austin Gomber, the starter for the Rockies today, also hasn't been off to a great start. He's 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA, and he has an opponent OPS in the first inning of 1.044. Now he faces a Phillies team that ranks fourth in OPS at .747.

Red Sox vs. Blue Jays NRFI -130

Garrett Whitlock and Alek Manoah face-off in a duel between two pitchers who have been hot to start the year. Whitlock will be making his second career start and he has an ERA of 0.66. I'm not yet convinced that he's ready to become a full-time starter, but with his history of being a reliever, I'm confident he can get through the first couple of innings unscathed.

Meanwhile, I'm all in on Manoah being a legit Cy Young candidate this season.

The two teams are tied for 10th in first inning runs at 0.58, but this pitcher's matchup makes this NRFI a seductive bet to make.

Diamondbacks vs. Cardinals YRFI +110

Humberto Castellanos gets the start for the Diamondbacks today, and while his 3.00 ERA seems like a strong mark, his 1.250 WHIP better shows his true colors. Now he has to face a Cardinals lineup that ranks fourth in first inning runs at 0.82.

I'm going to be honest, this bet is banking on the Cardinals to score. The Diamondbacks offense is the worst in the Majors and they rank dead last in first inning runs, and they face a solid Dakota Hudson today. With that being said, I'm so confident in Castellanos not being a good pitcher, I'm willing to bet on this with the hope that the Cardinals can cash for us.
