We're back for a special Sunday edition of NRFI and YRFI best bets!

If you're unfamiliar, these bets are on the first inning of MLB games. If you bet on NRFI (No Runs First Inning), and the first inning sees no runs scored, the bet cashes. If you wager on YRFI (Yes Runs First Inning), the bet will hit if one or more runs are scored in the opening inning.

Here are my top three NRFI and YRFI bets for Sunday, May 1. All odds listed below are via WynnBET Sportsbook.

Top NRFI and YRFI Bets for May 1st

Mariners vs. Marlins YRFI +130

We're going to start off with an aggressive one right away. Sure, the two pitchers have been off to a hot start this year with Logan Gilbert sporting a 0.4 ERA and Sandy Alcantara rocking a 1.78 ERA, but some other numbers show this could be a good bet.

The Mariners rank second in Major League Baseball in average runs per first inning at 0.86, while the Marlins have been fantastic against right-handed hitters, ranking sixth in OPS (.730). If you want a big plus-money first inning bet, this is the one to go with.

Guardians vs. Athletics YRFI +105

The Guardians and Athletics rank seventh and eighth in first inning runs per game at 0.67 and 0.62 respectively. James Kaprielian will be making his first start of the season, so I expect him to be knocking off the rust in this game and could be susceptible to giving up an early run. It also helps Cleveland that he's a righty, considered the Guardians are first in the Majors in OPS vs. right-handed pitchers (.790).

Tigers vs. Dodgers NRFI -125

Walker Buehler gets the start for the Dodgers tonight, and I have no doubt that he can pitch a clean first inning against a Detroit team that ranks 24th in both first inning runs (0.3) and OPS (.620).

The only worry I have, is whether or not the Dodgers can score in their first inning against Eduardo Rodriguez. Luckily, they've struggled a bit against left-handed pitchers this season, ranking 18th in OPS at .644.
