Best NRFI and YRFI bets today (Fade two AL Central Lineups)

The AL Central doesn't exactly have the most fearsome offenses and two of the weakest lineups will go head-to-head this afternoon.

The gambling started early with The Open Championship already on when we woke up this morning. Next up, the MLB has a loaded slate with a lot of afternoon starts to carry us through our Thursday. It’s the middle of summer, but we have more than enough to bet on and that includes the first inning of some of these early starts. For me they’re some nice quick bets to hopefully cash in on while I sweat out four days of golf bets.

Here are my favorite No Run First Inning and Yes Run First Inning bets for this full day of daytime sports.

Best NRFI bet today

Tigers vs. Royals NRFI (-110)

I’ve been looking at the first inning offenses a bit more for my no run first inning bets lately instead of just focusing on the pitching matchup. The Tigers and Royals are two of the worst offenses in the sport, and they’re equally as bad in the first inning, 23rd and 24th in first inning runs per game. I’m fading the bats, but I’m also backing the pitchers.

Michael Lorezen was Detroit’s All-Star representative and he’s been very good this year. Not necessarily in the first inning where has an ERA north of six, if he can get three outs in the All-Star game he can get three Royals out. Zach Greinke, his counterpart, has a 1.50 ERA in the first inning this year and a 3.67 ERA at home compared to a 7.42 ERA in road games.

Best YRFI bet today

Padres vs. Blue Jays YRFI (-110)

Chris Bassitt takes the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays today against San Diego and the Padres have a menacing top of the order for him to try and navigate in the first. Bassitt hasn’t done a great job getting those first three outs this season and has a 7.20 ERA in the first inning which is the sixth worst of any starting pitcher.

Blake Snell on the other side doesn’t really have those problems, and a lefty against the Blue Jays is a good matchup for the pitcher. However, I expect him to take the mound with the lead.
