Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today (Keep Fading the Guardians Offense Against Lefties)

Yesterday was the National League’s day in the spotlight and now it’s the American League’s turn. With the extra day to get aces back on the mound for Seattle and Cleveland we have some fantastic pitching matchup and really fun possibilities for No Run First Inning and Yes Run First Inning bets.
Best NRFI Bet today
Guardians vs. Yankees -156
Realistically NRFI bets are more likely to hit in the playoffs with some of the best pitchers in the league on the mound. However, the books also know this so you have to lay the juice for most of the playoffs. That doesn’t mean we can’t be profitable though because I love this NRFI bet today. The Guardians were 28th in the league in OPS against left-handers and Nestor Cortes Jr. is taking the mound for New York.
Nasty Nestor finished the year with a 2.44 ERA and 12-4 record he did allow a 3.21 first inning ERA, but a .591 opponent OPS in the first inning points to that being something of an aberration. Plus, you get Shane Bieber on the other side, and he’s the better pitcher of the two in my opinion.
Best YRFI Bet Today
Mariners vs. Astros +118
Luis Castillo has been incredible against great teams this year and that is one reason I like the Mariners as an underdog today, even after a devastating Game 1 loss. However, this is the hedge against that.
Maybe Seattle is buried after giving up a walk-off homer to Yordan Alvarez on Tuesday and Houston shook off all the rust already. I can certainly see a world where the Astros just jump Castillo from pitch one and sweep this series. Game 1 was that devastating of a loss.
I also could see Framber Valdez looking rusty the same way Verlander did after a long layoff. All of this is in play and that is why I really like this bet at +118 odds.
