Game 1 of the World Series did not disappoint. The Phillies came away with a 6-5 extra innings comeback win over the Astros on JT Realmuto’s heroic 10th inning homer. I myself also had some success with prop bets. It was a good night all around and tonight for Game 2 let’s hope the encore is even better.

Here are my favorite props plus a No Run First Inning and Yes Run First Inning bet.

Phillies vs. Astros Best MLB Prop Bets

  • Yes Run First Inning
  • Framber Valdez Under 5.5 Strikeouts
  • Rhys Hoskins Over 0.5 Home Runs

Yes Run First Inning

A strategy that has been good to me all postseason is fading pitchers following a long layoff. That is the case for both Zack Wheeler and Framber Valdez. Wheeler is on a bit more normal rest, just six days, but Valdez has not pitched since October 20. I went with a YRFI bet yesterday as well and it didn’t work out, but my theory was correct because neither pitcher had a good outing. Wheeler and Valdez have both been good this postseason, but I’m fading them in the first inning of Game 2.

Framber Valdez Under 5.5 Strikeouts

Valdez dazzled last time he took the mound against the Yankees with nine strikeouts over seven innings, but that is not the type of pitcher he is. Over the year, Valdez was about league average with a 54th percentile strikeout rate. His whiff rate is average and his chase rate in the 32nd percentile of the league. Justin Verlander pitched very well to start the game last night, but the Philly bats woke up, and I’m not sure they’ll go away the rest of the series.

Rhys Hoskins Over 0.5 Home Runs

I played it a little safer yesterday and had no home run bets, but today we’re swinging for the fences and so is Rhys Hoskins. Hoskins had one hit yesterday, but over the course of the season had a .945 OPS against left-handed pitching. If someone goes yard today, I’d expect it to be Hoskins.
