Finally, baseball is back. We’ve had a decent layoff between the end of the LCS series and the start of the World Series. Five whole days. But now we have the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park with Justin Verlander and Aaron Nola on the mound. What a treat for a Friday night, and I’ve put together my three favorite prop bets for World Series Game 1.

Phillies vs. Astros Best MLB Prop Bets

  • Yes Run First Inning
  • Aaron Nola Under 16.5 Pitching Outs
  • Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases

Yes Run First Inning

The books are back to giving us big plus odds for a YRFI bet. Yes, we have two really great pitchers on the mound, but something I have been doing all postseason is fading pitchers after long layoffs. That’s the case for both Justin Veralnder and Aaron Nola. Both haven’t pitched since October 19, which is an abnormal layoff. Verlander’s first start of the postseason came following a similar layoff and he allowed one run in the first and three in the second.

These are two great pitchers, but they have to face two amazing offenses that could easily put a run on the board in the first.

Aaron Nola Under 16.5 Pitching Outs

Nola did not pitch well in his last outing, and it is interesting that he will go first instead of Wheeler. Nola went 4.2 innings and allowed six runs in Game 2 of the NLCS. Now he has to face a much better offense in an even bigger spot. Even in his good starts this postseason, he has only gone 6.2 innings and 6.0 innings which is barely over.

Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases

Harper might be the best hitter in the world right now. He was fantastic this season before his hand injury and then needed some time to get back to form. He is in his best form now and has a 1.351 OPS this postseason, by far the best of any hitter this October.

Harper already had “the swing of his life,” but he will have a few more big hits in the World Series.
