Best Same-Game Parlay for UNC vs. Kansas in National Championship Game (Back the Tar Heels)
By Peter Dewey
The Final Four field was filled with Blue Bloods, and now two of college basketball’s very best will face off on Monday night in the National Championship Game.
The No. 8 seed North Carolina Tar Heels will take on the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks at 9:20 p.m. EST tonight, with the Heels coming in as four-point underdogs at WynnBET Sportsbook.
The total for this game has soared all the way to 152 points, and it’s not a surprise given the offensive powerhouses that these two teams are. Kansas showed it can light it up from beyond the arc in the Final Four against Villanova, shooting 13-for-24 from deep, but does it have another performance like that left?
Meanwhile, Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels kept on ruining Coach K’s final season at Duke with a win in the first matchup between the two rivals in the NCAA Tournament.
There’s a same-game parlay that I have my eyes on in this game, so let’s get into it with all odds via WynnBET:
Best Same-Game Parlay Picks for UNC vs. Kansas (+257 Odds)
- UNC +4 vs. Kansas (-110)
- UNC Team Total OVER 73.5 Points (-115)
UNC +4 vs. Kansas (-110)
I have to take the points in this game, as UNC and Kansas are on a collision course to play a hotly-contested matchup on Monday.
The Tar Heels are on fire as of late, covering the spread in nine of their last 10 games, and I think they match up relatively well with Kansas in all aspects.
Armando Bacot has been an absolute force on the glass, and R.J. Davis, Caleb Love and Brady Manek have knocked down big shot after big shot all tournament long.
The Tar Heels have also gone 4-1 against the spread in National Championship games dating back to 1988, winning four of those games straight up as well. Hubert Davis’ team is peaking at the right time, and while I won’t guarantee a UNC win, I think we see this game come down to the final possessions.
With that in mind, I like getting four points on UNC, especially since the Heels may be the toughest test Kansas has faced all tournament long. The Jayhawks had a relatively smooth path to the Final Four and then ran into a Villanova team without its second best player in Justin Moore.
I’ll bet on this game to stay within a possession when it’s all said and done.
UNC Team Total OVER 73.5 Points (-115)
If you couldn’t tell by the total in this game, Vegas is expecting plenty of points to be scored between these two programs.
While I don’t mind the OVER at 152, I think there is some value on UNC’s team total, especially since I am backing the Heels to cover.
North Carolina has scored 73 or more points in each of its NCAA Tournament games except the blowout win over No. 15 Saint Peter’s in the Elite 8.
The Heels have scored 95, 93, 73, 69 and 81 points respectively, and this game should be played at a fast pace on Monday.
North Carolina is 40th in the country in adjusted tempo, according to KenPom, while Kansas comes in at 65th in the same category. Both of these teams have prolific scorers, but I think the Tar Heels showed against Duke that they can keep pace with top-tier talent.
As long as Davis and Love continue to shoot the ball at a high level, I think UNC clears this line with ease in the national title game.
