When it comes to wagering on NFL futures, there's no time like the present for games still months away.

Several sportsbooks have already released plenty of prop bets ahead of the 2022 season; ranging from who will lead the NFL in passing, rushing and receiving touchdowns, to who will throw the most interceptions.

On this week's episode of "Stacking the Box," I debated several different NFL preseason futures bets with FanSided hosts Mark Carman and Matt Verderame, including which candidates present the best value on the board to lead the league in sacks.

Here are the latest odds for the top 5 favorites on the board.

Odds to Lead the NFL in Sacks

  • T.J. Watt +600
  • Myles Garrett +750
  • Nick Bosa +1000
  • Joey Bosa +1100
  • Chandler Jones +1100

Who Will Lead the NFL in Sacks this Season?

Despite Watt tying the all-time single-season NFL record with 22.5 sacks a season ago for the Pittsburgh Steelers, none of us landed on the favorite as our top bet on the board.

My pick is on Washington Commanders' defensive end Chase Young at +2500 odds to win. He finished as the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 for a Washington team that finished top 4 overall and top 6 in sacks before regressing in 2021 due to several key injuries.

Verderame, however, found an even bigger dark horse pick; taking Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary that could pay off handsomely at 50/1 odds.

"I'm going way off the damn board... I would make a value bet on him. He was great the second half of last season. They play in a division where the Bears can't block anybody, the Vikings can't block anybody, and the Lions have a quarterback that's a statue."

Verderame also highlighted why he's fading so many of the favorites on the program.

"Why would Chandler Jones be +1100 when you have to factor in that they (the Raiders) can't guard anybody? Myles Garrett is great, but they are a team that won't be winning a ton of games if Watson isn't there. What does that mean? People will run the ball at you.

You want a guy on a good team who can cover. The Packers are that kind of team."
