I'm making a decision on behalf of the BetSided team.

I'm declaring this Monday that a "bad beat" should still be considered any sort of bad or unlucky gamble, even when it's not directly betting at a sportsbook.

In the case of one Boston Celtics fan, this bet may cause some permanent literal and figurative scaring.

That's right. One poor Boston fan was so confident that his Celtics were taking home the 2022 Larry O'Brien Trophy this season that he made it permanent, getting a Celtics championship banner tattooed on his left bicep.

Only problem? The Celtics lost the final three games of their NBA Finals series against the Golden State Warriors as Steph Curry won his first ever NBA Finals MVP.

Perhaps that lone Boston fan read our story at BetSided, highlighting FiveThirtyEight's projection that the Celtics had a 87% chance of winning the NBA Finals following their Game 3 victory to take a 2-1 series lead.

Either way, we don't accept responsibility.

Here is the other worst bad beat of the week.

Worst Bad Beats of the Week (Monday, June 13 - Sunday, June 19)

Will Zalatoris - 2022 U.S. Open

Perhaps this also falls outside the category of a traditional "bad beat," but man, if anyone is out there holding yet another Will Zalatoris (+2500) outright winner from a major tournament, I feel for you.

Zalatoris took the outright lead on the eventual winner, Matthew Fitzpatrick on Hole No. 11 Sunday, sinking a clutch putt to gain a one stroke lead at 6-under par. Eventually Fitzpatrick took a one stroke lead down the stretch, and then after going into the bunker on 18, Zalatoris had his moment to force a playoff with a birdie putt. It ended up just to the left of the hole in absolute heartbreaking fashion.

Zalatoris now has three runner-up finishes at Major tournaments: The 2021 Masters, the 2022 PGA Championship, and now the 2022 U.S. Open. He also finished T6 in this year's Masters.

If you're curious about Zalatoris' odds for the final major of the season at The Open at St. Andrews, he's once again available at WynnBET Sportsbook at +2500 odds.

Worst Bad Beat of the Week (Honorable Mention)

Aces-Wings UNDER 175

I'll make this short and sweet, since this one stung for yours truly.

The Aces scored 57 of their 92 points in the second half to take down Dallas in a noon CT tip-off on the road. Dallas, down six with 22 seconds left chose to foul, and the Aces made two unnecessary free throws to take down the under bet of 175. Disheartening to say the least.
