After a disappointing 2-5 loss to Ottawa, the 30-24-10 Winnipeg Jets hope to get back in the win column as they host the 32-29-3 Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at 8:00 PM EST.

The Jets are battling for a playoff spot and currently sit five points behind Dallas for the final Wild Card spot, while the Blue Jackets are all but eliminated.

Columbus has still won four of their last six though behind an explosive offense and defeated Winnipeg 3-0 back in November - can the Blue Jackets play spoiler and secure a road victory or will the Jets bounce back from their Ottawa loss to stay afloat in the playoff hunt?

Here are the odds from WynnBET as we look for value in this Blue Jackets vs Jets matchup:

Blue Jackets vs Jets Odds and Total

Moneyline:

  • Blue Jackets: +140
  • Jets:-160

Puck line:

  • Blue Jackets +1.5 (-160)
  • Jets -1.5 (+130)

Total:

  • 6.5 (Over -130/Under +115)

Blue Jackets vs Jets Prediction and Pick

We can expect some goals in this one. The Blue Jackets allow 3.56 goals per game, the worst mark in the NHL, and have surrendered a ridiculous 16 goals over their last three contests. But they're a strong offensive team and that's helped the over go 39-22-3 in their games this year.

The Jets are strong offensively as well, averaging just under four goals per game over their last six. As a result, the over is 10-3-1 in their previous 14 matchups. In their last 10 as a favorite, the over is 7-2-1.

Winnipeg did just play last night, but after getting stomped by the Senators I expect them to take their frustrations out on a woeful Blue Jackets defense. Columbus has lost three of their last four on the road by a combined 14 goals and we should see that trend continue.

Given how much the Blue Jackets are struggling, the offensive firepower at hand, and the recent trends supporting a lot of goals, I'm taking the over. But I'll also take the Jets to cover the puck line. When Columbus loses, they tend to get smoked. And if Winnipeg is winning near the end of regulation we always have the opportunity for an open net goal to give us the cover. Let's go Jets.

Pick: Jets -1.5 (+130) and Over 6.5 (-130)
