Winners of five straight, the 42-42 Seattle Mariners are rolling as they host the 45-39 Toronto Blue Jays tonight at 10:10 PM EST.

Toronto is 1-6 in its last seven as Ross Stripling takes the mound this evening. Stripling took a loss against Tampa Bay last week in his worst start of the year, but had a 1.59 ERA in June and has looked like a stellar rotation piece for the Blue Jays.

George Kirby hopes to build off seven dazzling innings against the Athletics last week in which he allowed just one run. He has a quality start in three of his last four outings, but has a propensity to give up home runs in bunches.

Can Kirby keep Seattle's hot streak going or will Stripling and Toronto snap out of their slump?

Blue Jays vs Mariners Prediction and Pick

This is a great spot to buy low on a Blue Jays lineup that still leads MLB in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last two weeks despite struggling to score overall. George Kirby looked sensational for Seattle in his last start against Oakland, but he gave up four home runs to Baltimore in the outing prior to that and Toronto can make him pay for his mistakes.

Seattle is on a roll, but I'm willing to fade the Mariners after consecutive series against the struggling Padres and lowly A's. They're 23rd in OPS against righty's in the last two weeks and Ross Stripling has allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight of his 11 starts.

Stripling's 3.20 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) gives him an edge over Kirby's 4.27, and Toronto has the better defense anyway. By shutting down strong lineups like the Yankees' and Boston's, Stripling has proven himself more than Kirby has against pathetic offenses like Oakland's. In fact, Kirby has a 5.48 ERA in his last four starts against anyone besides the Athletics.

With a 15th-percentile ranking in barrel percentage and 20th-percentile ranking in average exit velocity, Kirby can be slammed by powerful lineups like Toronto's.

Give me the Blue Jays to pick up a win and get back on track by taking a few Kirby mistakes out of the park.
