The Toronto Blue Jays swept both games of yesterday’s double header in Baltimore and are now 4.5 games up on the Baltimore Orioles for the final Wild Card spot in the AL. These two AL East rivals will play twice more this week, tonight and tomorrow, and the Blue Jays have a chance to bury Baltimore and snuff out their playoff hopes.

Kyle Bradish takes to the mound for Baltimore to try to keep its postseason hopes alive while Mitch White starts for Toronto.

Blue Jays vs. Orioles Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Blue Jays -1.5 (+146)
  • Orioles +1.5 (-178)

Moneyline:

  • Blue Jays: -108
  • Orioles: -108

Total:

  • 8.5 (Over -122/Under +100)

Blue Jays vs. Orioles Prediction and Pick

Yesterday, the Blue Jays won 8-4 and 7-3, both impressive offensive outpourings. Bo Bichette is leading this Toronto offense at the moment. In the second game yesterday, Bichette hit three home runs and between the two games he drove in seven of the 15 runs. Over the past seven days Bichette leads the MLB in OPS at 1.481 and is slugging an even 1.000. He has four homers, 12 hits and 12 RBI in the last week.

This is a much needed hot streak for Bichette who has his lowest career OPS this season. He does still have 21 home runs and 78 RBI despite the .766 OPS.

Bichette has still been really good this season with a hard hit rate of 50.4% that puts him in the top seven percent of the league. The problem is he is selling out much more and has a below average strikeout rate for the first time in his career. It also may be a bit of bad luck as he has his lowest career BABIP.

It seems as though Bichette is going to be a real force down the stretch for Toronto which marks their lineup even scarier.

However, Mitch White has pitched poorly since coming over from the Dodgers and now has a 4.86 ERA. He gave up seven and six earned runs in his last two starts. Kyle Bradish on the other side is pitching really well with back-to-back two-hit scoreless outings.

Bradish has a 5.17 ERA and I’d be surprised if he pitched this well for long, especially facing Bichette and the Blue Jays, so I’ll lean over.

Lean: Over 8.5 (-122)
