Blue Jays vs. Red Sox Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, August 24 (Can Brayan Bello Get his First MLB Win?)
By Reed Wallach
The Red Sox season has fallen off path, well outside the AL Wild Card race now, but can they play spoiler?
Boston is starting to lean on their young prospects on the mound as they look ahead to next season, but it's been poor results in the short term. One of the team's bright young arms, Brayan Bello has struggled in his first five appearances in the big leagues with a 8.47 ERA.
Now he is set to face the vaunted Toronto Blue Jays lineup at home, will he find his high ceiling or continue a poor start to his professional career?
Let's first dive into the odds via WynnBET Sportsbook:

Blue Jays vs. Red Sox Prediction and Pick
It looks grim for Bello early in his career, but maybe its just some bad luck? While he has a 8.47 ERA, his FIP is 3.65 and a boost in his control can do him wonders. He has walked nearly six batters per nine innings in this small sample size and 28 hits and 17 innings. I think with more reps, we see Bello settle into his role and the worst is hopefully behind him.
I also am always interested in fading Jose Berrios, who has proven he is not worthy of being a road favorite against a talent offensive team like the Red Sox. Berrios has posted the highest home run rate of his career at over 16%, which could be problematic against a Red Sox team that is top half of the league in slugging percentage and plays in the hitter friendly Fenway Park.
I'm going to bank on some regression for Bello and take a shot on the Red Sox as home underdogs. Berrios has been pitching to a 5.39 ERA this season and has proven he can't be trusted with a "- sign' next to his name.
LEAN: Red Sox ML (+130)
