The Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night, and have now dropped out of the AL Wild Card spot. They now are behind the Yankees by half a game, but can make up the ground with a win today against the Minnesota Twins.

Steven Matz (3.84) is set to get the start for the Jays, and he’ll face Twins starter Michael Pineda (3.74 ERA).

WynnBET has the Toronto Blue Jays set as -140 road favorites, and the Minnesota Twins are set as +120 home underdogs. The total for the game is set at 9.5 runs.

Blue Jays vs. Twins Prediction and Pick

It’s starting to become do-or-die time for the Blue Jays, and they can’t afford to lose any games to the 67-85 Twins. I’m going to back the Jays to get it done at -140 on the moneyline.

Matz faced the Twins in his last start, and he gave up only three hits and two earned runs in what ended as a 6-2 win for Toronto. Minnesota has struggled against lefties all season, as the Twins rank 10th in OPS (.744) against right-handed pitchers in 2021 but 22nd in OPS against left-handed pitchers (.720).

That sets Matz up for another great start tonight.

Toronto has also had one of the hottest offenses in baseball this month, ranking first in total runs scored (143) and OPS (.898).

Pineda gave up three hits and one earned run against the Jays in his last start, but I expect the Toronto offense to get to him in tonight’s showdown.

Give me the Blue Jays at -140 on the moneyline.
