Blue Jays vs. White Sox Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, June 21 (Chicago Undervalued at Home)
By Reed Wallach
A pair of teams jockeying for position in the middle of the American League battle on Tuesday with two of their best on the mound.
Kevin Gausman draws the start for the Blue Jays while the White Sox counter at home with budding star Dylan Cease. Who should we trust as the White Sox try to get back into the AL Central race? Can Cease limit his walks against one of the best lineups in baseball?
Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Blue Jays vs. White Sox Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Blue Jays: -1.5 (+120)
- White Sox: +1.5 (-145)
Moneyline:
- Blue Jays: -128
- White Sox: +118
Total: 9 (Over -105/Under -115)
Blue Jays vs. White Sox Prediction and Pick
Gausman has been great in his first season with the Blue Jays, but his numbers could be even better. He has a 3.21 ERA but his FIP is nearly half of that, sitting at 1.74. Ultimately, I'm siding with the home starter in Cease.
Cease has the highest K per 9 innings rate in baseball at nearly 13 and hasn't allowed an earned run in the month of June. Again, he must limit his walks as he has not gone past the fifth inning in any of his three starts this month, but I'm going to trust him at this price as a home underdog.
Toronto's bullpen is bottom 10 in baseball and Gausman has had two starts go less than four innings in his last three, so he may not be as reliable as his underlying metrics suggest.
I'll take the South Siders with Cease on the bump.
LEAN: White Sox ML (+118)
