A pair of 2-1 teams square off today as the New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:05 PM EST.

Toronto's bats looked fantastic in their opening series against the Rangers, putting up 20 runs over three games. But their pitching staff surrendered 23, including 12 in yesterday's loss.

They'll start Alex Manoah today in hopes of a better pitching performance. Manoah burst onto the scene last year with a stellar 3.22 ERA over 20 starts. He struck out 127 batters in 111 innings and only gave up 40 walks, so his underlying metrics were strong as well.

Opposing Manoah will be Jameson Tallion, making his first start since offseason ankle surgery. Tallion had just a 4.30 ERA last season but was much better at home, posting a 3.26 ERA in seven starts at Yankee Stadium.

Can Tallion stay hot at home or will Toronto get back in the win column behind a strong performance from Manoah?

Here are the odds from WynnBET as we pick a winner in this Blue Jays vs Yankees matchup:

Blue Jays vs Yankees Prediction and Pick

Wait, the Blue Jays are underdogs? With this offense and Manoah on the mound? There must be some mistake.

Maybe bettors haven't caught on to how good this Toronto offense is, or maybe they aren't familiar with Manoah, or maybe the Yankees are just overrated. I don't know. But something is amiss. The Blue Jays should be decent favorites today and I'm stunned that there's a "+" symbol next to their odds.

But hey, I'm not one to return gifts so I'll just say "Thank you!" to WynnBET as I happily collect my dollars from a resounding Toronto win today.

If you're not familiar, the 6'6", 260lb Manoah is a Machine (yes, capital "M" Machine). The Blue Jays only lost four of the 20 games he started all season and he got stronger as the year went on, amassing a 1.71 ERA over his final four starts.

Tallion, meanwhile, is great at Yankee Stadium, but relies heavily on his fastball. That's bad news against a Toronto offense that was the best in the MLB at hitting fastballs in 2021 and is actually better this year.

I expect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to continue his torrid start to pair with George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, Bo Bichette, and company. The Blue Jays have the best offenses in baseball and have one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound today. It's blasphemy they're underdogs.

Oh well, though. Oddsmakers' loss is our gain. Toronto all the way.

Pick: Blue Jays +107
